Whaleback is supporting the Cuckmere Haven SOS Trust on the repair maintenance and long-term strategy for the flood defences on the western flank of Cuckmere Haven at the iconic and world-famous Coastguard Cottages.  The site, to the east of Seaford, is environmentally and culturally sensitive, being in the South Downs National Park, a protected coastline, a SSSI and one of the last undeveloped river mouths in the UK.  It also stands in the setting of the beautiful Seven Sisters cliffs and country park.  Whaleback originally secured consents for a temporary repair to the historic timber defences on behalf of the residents of the Coastguard Cottages in 2022, before being appointed to lead the design and delivery of a longer-term solution to the failing defences by the charitable trust.
